FAQs: Frequently Asked Questions
Products & Hair Care
Who is Garden of E for?
All hair types and textures, straight, wavy, curly, coily, and loc’d.
Will Garden of E help my hair grow?
Healthy growth starts at the scalp. Our products support a healthy scalp environment and reduce common issues that get in the way of retaining length. Individual results vary.
Do your products contain sulfates, silicones, parabens, or mineral oil?
No. All Garden of E formulas are free from sulfates, silicones, parabens, and mineral oil, and our full ingredient lists are public on every product page.
Is Garden of E safe for color-treated hair?
Yes, our formulas are designed to cleanse and nourish without compromising hair health. One exception: Purify is a clarifying shampoo, and clarifying shampoos can lift pigment from color treated hair. If you color your hair, lean on Replenish for regular washes and save Purify for occasional deep cleanses.
How often should I wash my hair?
Every 7–10 days as a general guideline, though scalp condition, lifestyle, and hair goals can shift that.
Genesis Collection
What’s the difference between Purify and Replenish?
Purify is a deeper cleansing shampoo for removing buildup. Replenish is a moisturizing shampoo for regular cleansing and hydration.
Do I need every step of the Genesis Collection?
Each product works on its own, but they’re built as a system: Purify or Replenish for cleansing, Secure for conditioning, Secure 2.0 for lightweight moisture, and Anoint for scalp care.
What order should I use the products in?
1. Purify and/or Replenish 2. Secure 3. Secure 2.0 (optional) 4. Anoint (optional)
Anoint Ayurvedic Oil
Will Anoint help with hair thinning or growth?
Anoint is formulated with Ayurvedic herbs traditionally used to support scalp health and encourage the appearance of fuller, thicker-looking hair, especially helpful for those dealing with thinning. It’s a lightweight blend that nourishes without weighing hair down or leaving grease. For best results, massage into a clean, damp scalp 2–3 times a week, consistency matters more than quantity, and results vary person to person.
Secure 2.0
What’s the difference between Secure and Secure 2.0?
Secure 2.0 shares a similar formula base with Secure, but it’s built to be a lightweight leave-in conditioner rather than a standard conditioner.
Release Detangling Spray
Can Release be used when removing braids, locs, wigs, or extensions?
Yes, it’s designed to soften tangles and make take-down easier.
Safety & Special Considerations
What if I have a sensitive scalp or a condition like psoriasis or eczema?
We can’t make medical claims, but our full ingredient list is public so you can check it against your sensitivities. Patch test first, and if you have a diagnosed scalp condition, run it by your dermatologist before introducing anything new.
Can I use Garden of E on my child’s hair?
Yes, our formulas are gentle enough for kids’ hair. We recommend a patch test before first use since young scalps tend to be more sensitive. For children under 3, check with your pediatrician first.
Can I use Garden of E if I’m pregnant?
All Garden of E formulas are free from sulfates, silicones, parabens, and mineral oil, and our full ingredient list is public. That said, some natural oils and actives carry pregnancy-specific guidance, so share the ingredient list with your OB or midwife first. Once you’ve got approval, you’re set.
How long does order processing take?
Orders are typically processed within 2–3 business days.
What if my order arrives damaged?
We’re sorry to hear that. Please contact us within 48 hours of delivery with a photo of the damaged item and we’ll make it right.
